“What if I’m underdressed?” – If you are at all worried about your outfit for your first Virginia winery experience this spring, take a deep breath. You are not alone. We have a few tips to not only look your best, but feel your best while you explore your palate this spring!

  1. Comfort is Key – As much as it is second nature to dress to impress, you want to be at your most comfortable so that you can properly enjoy the day! The last thing you want is to feel rushed to get home to take off those heels or ditch the suit jacket. Consider materials that are lightweight and dress in a style that feels natural for you. Come as you are!
  1. Not Too Hot, Not Too Cold – Temperatures in wine country can fluctuate, even on the same day. You may order inside or enjoy a tasting, but then decide to enjoy another glass out on the patio. Dressing in layers that you can put on or take off will help you as you transition from indoors to outdoors, or if the forecast takes a sudden turn!
  1. The Future’s so Bright – One of the best parts of enjoying a Virginia winery is taking in the gorgeous scenery. You’ll likely want to spend a bit of time in the great outdoors! Remembering to apply sunscreen before your trip can be a lifesaver – and remembering to toss a tube in your purse if you are planning to stay most of the day. A lightweight, breathable material, floppy hat, and sunglasses can come to your aid in looking past the heat during these spring months.

Above all…remember to come as you are! Wineries are meant for everyone to enjoy. There is no dress code, no criteria you must meet. Wear what feels comfortable, keeps you cool, and allows you to stay and make the most out of a beautiful day with a glass in hand!
